Mr Hanumant Chouhan (Hanu) is a colorectal and general surgeon who specialises in minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He has expertise and experience in treating a wide range of colorectal and general surgical conditions. He is trained in South Australia becoming a FRACS in 2013. He subsequently dedicated four additional years to advanced training and research in Colorectal Surgery ( Colorectal society of Australia and Newzeland training at Royal Adelaide hospital, Monash Health, Gold Coast University Hospital, Cleveland Clinic in the U.S.A. and then successfully completed robotic surgery fellowship at the Korean University, Anam Hospital.
Hanu has special research interest in understanding young colorectal cancer genetics and has a Master in philosophy (M.Phil) from university of Adelaide. Hanu received multiple research scholarships, including prestigious Cleveland clinic foundation scholarship, and currently supervises masters students through Monash University.
Currently has public appointment to Monash Health performing colorectal Surgery and consults in Berwick, Mulgrave. In addition to operating at Dandenong hospital and he also operates privately at St John of hospital Berwick, Mulgrave private hospital, KNox private hospital and at Jessie McPherson hospital.
Hanu is current chair of colorectal cancer multidisciplinary team at Monash health, and co- director of research, colorectal unit Monash Health. He has over 40 publications in both national and international journals.
